Carl Frampton has committed to a year of sobriety as he prepares to take on Josh Warrington at the Manchester Arena this Saturday in a bid to reclaim the world title. The former world featherweight and super-bantamweight champion made a New Year’s resolution to stay teetotal.

Frampton, with a record of 26 wins, 1 loss, and 15 knockouts, is 31 years old from Belfast, Northern Ireland, and eyes becoming a world champion again two years after his defeat to Leo Santa Cruz. He believes staying off alcohol will benefit his boxing career by maintaining his weight and overall performance.

Frampton declared that he is now living the life of a professional athlete, having remained teetotal for a year as of Boxing Day. His decision to abstain from alcohol is part of his commitment to boxing longevity and staying in top shape between bouts.

Fans from Ireland will flock to support Frampton in his showdown with IBF world featherweight champion Warrington. Frampton regards Warrington as the fifth best featherweight globally and has his sights set on facing Gary Russell Jr, Oscar Valdez, and Leo Santa Cruz in the future, following his bout with Warrington.
