Norwegian skier Kjetil Jansrud emerged victorious at the Super-G World Championship, marking his third consecutive win at the Alberta ski resort near Calgary. The 33-year-old athlete has been dominating the slopes of Lake Louise along with his teammate Aksel Lund Svindal, securing the Super-G title in Canada for seven years in a row.
With ten combined victories at Lake Louise, Jansrud and Svindal have showcased their prowess in downhill skiing over the years. Despite the absence of competitions in 2016 due to warm weather conditions, Jansrud expressed his satisfaction with his performance, emphasizing the importance of skiing well and taking risks to achieve speed.
In the current season, Jansrud maintained his impressive form by claiming the top spot once again, closely followed by Austrian skier Vincent Kriechmayr, who finished just 0.14 seconds behind. Swiss competitor Mauro Caviezel secured third place, marking his second podium finish of his career, trailing by twenty-one seconds.
Reflecting on his performance, Kriechmayr acknowledged making minor errors that cost him the first position, recognizing Jansrud’s exceptional speed on the slopes. Meanwhile, defending Olympic champion Svindal clinched the fifth spot, while Austrian downhill champion Max Franz finished 14th. Canadian skier Dustin Cook expressed satisfaction with his 16th position, praising the quality of the course.
