Jonathan Bamba, the winger for LOSC Lille, recently shared that he has been contacted by officials from Cote d’Ivoire to represent the Elephants at an international level. However, at the moment, he has declined the offer to play for the West African side. So far this season, the 22-year-old Bamba has scored seven goals and provided one assist in 12 Ligue 1 games for Les Dogues in 2018.
Bamba previously believed that his performance on the field would lead to a call-up from the French national team, and currently, he is focused on his future with Les Bleus. In an interview with Telefoot, Bamba confirmed the contact from Cote d’ Ivoire. He acknowledged the talent in the French squad and emphasized that his future appearances depend on his dedication and hard work.
During the summer, Bamba moved to Lille on a free transfer after impressing in the previous Ligue 1 season with Saint-Etienne. He netted seven goals and provided eight assists while playing for his former team. Bamba highlighted the trust that the French national team coach, Didier Deschamps, has in young players, citing examples like Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez. Bamba has played a vital role for Lille this season.
