The Green Bay Packers have traded their free safety, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to the Washington Redskins and acquired a fourth-round draft pick for the year 2019. The 25-year-old Clinton-Dix remained a starter since the time his rookie season began in the year 2014. He will soon turn into an unrestricted free agent just after this season gets over. Clinton-Dix was a first-round draft pick of the Packers and now successfully made it to the Pro Bowl in the year 2016. The Redskins now hold the first place in NFC East, having a 5-2 record.
Clinton-Dix managed five interceptions during his Pro Bowl season. However, he witnessed a downside in the year 2017 as the compete section of the Packers struggled. But now, Clinton-Dix now had a better start in this season, having started with three interceptions, a forced fumble as well as a sack in the initial seven games. He has been playing well with eight defensive snaps in the previous season. Once, Clinton-Dix had a streak of over 2000 consecutive defensive plays.
The Redskins comprise of DJ Swearinger, a player who has played as a high-level safety in most of the season. He has managed to intercept four passes, which includes two during the Sunday’s win over the team New York Giants. Another player, Montae Nicholson began each game at free safety, but he has not made an impact which the team had thought of in this season.
However, Nicholson had to miss out on nine games in the last season because of a shoulder injury as well as a concussion, which later on resulted in him being placed on the injured reserve list in December. But the good news is that now, the Redskins will be having another great player in the form of Clinton-Dix, who can easily carry out both the safety roles.
