It now turns out that the injury Golden Knights centre Paul Stastny suffered is a lot sever than expected earlier. Previously what was thought to be out for just a couple of games because of an injury on the lower body, the Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant announced on Monday that his forward could be out for nearly two months.
This obviously will be a major blow to the team’s offence which has struggled a lot in the initial part of the season. Stastny entered the Golden Knights during the summer with a three year deal in free agency and was expected to centre the second lineup along with Max Pacioretty. However, all of these plans will have to be kept on hold for the coming few months.
After the Golden Knights reached the Stanley Cup Final in their debut season, the team has been off to a slow start this season with just two wins of their first six games as of Monday. One of the major issues has been the absence of offence as the team has just managed to get 11 goals in the six games. They still have to score over two goals in any one game this season.
Although it is a cause of concern, the Golden Knights are still trying to take hold of the situation by controlling shot attempts in almost all of their games and are being squashed by a 5.2 team-wide shooting percentage. Hence, there is only a little hope left that things might turn around for the team. The process is right there although the early results are not yet out. But still, the team needs to get more production from a lineup which is not their topmost strength at the moment. Well, we can only hope that the team recoups and gets back into shape as soon as possible.
