Jerome Allen pleads guilty for accepting bribe to provide a seat in the University of Pennsylvania

As per a fresh report, the assistant coach of Boston Celtics Jerome Allen has been proved guilty for accepting a bribe of amount $18,000. This incident had taken place in 2004. The decision has been taken up by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

As per the plea agreement of Allen with the government, Allen will pay $18,000 bribe amount along with a monetary fine of $ 200,000. It is said that Allen, who became a staff member of the Boston in 2015, will remain on the position but will face suspension soon.

Taking about the incident that had taken place in 2014, when Allen was working as the head coach at the University of Pennsylvania, he took $18,000 bribe from the father of a student. Allen in his statement stated that he took the bribe to give a seat to the student in the university by using his position as coach t as a listed recruit.

Explaining more about this, Allen stated that he has failed on many levels. He has failed to maintain his character. He did not live up to the standards that he set for himself.

He is feeling heartbroken as now all the former and current player will get to know about this. However, he is expecting that some good may come out of this. In his statement which he has given through his attorney Ronald Sullivan, Allen mentioned that in 2014, before he joined the Celtics organization and when he served as the Head Basketball Coach of the University of Pennsylvania, he accepted $18,000. His plea agreement with the Government requires him to repay the $18,000 and $200,000 fine. His salary has been estimated to be around $300,000.

Danny Ainge, the Team president of basketball operations, has not given any comment in this.
