NFL Reportedly Considering Suspending Buccaneers Quarterback Jameis Winston

NFL may suspend Buccaneers’ Jameis Winston: Report

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are facing the prospect of being without their starting quarterback, Jameis Winston, at the beginning of the season. Reports suggest that the NFL is likely to suspend Winston for a few games due to a violation of the league’s conduct policy. So far, neither Winston nor the team has received official notification of the suspension.

The Buccaneers have yet to make an official statement on the matter. They have indicated that they will release a statement once the NFL makes an official announcement regarding Winston’s suspension. The suspension stems from an alleged incident involving Winston and a female Uber driver in Scottsdale, Arizona back in March 2016. While no police charges were filed at the time, the NFL launched an investigation on November 17, 2017.

Winston has vehemently denied the allegations. In a statement released on November 17, he refuted the claims made against him, stating that they were false. According to him, the Uber driver had misunderstood the situation and inaccurately reported the number of passengers in the car. Uber suspended his account despite his denial of the incident.

Winston has expressed his support for efforts to address and prevent misconduct, but maintains that the allegations against him are unfounded. He insists that he did not engage in any improper behavior with the driver and harbors no ill will towards her. However, he has expressed regret if his actions or presence inadvertently made her uncomfortable.

Presently, the Buccaneers have four quarterbacks on their roster: Ryan Griffin, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Austin Allen, and Jameis Winston.
