D.J. Moore, a wide receiver picked in the first round of the draft, has officially joined the Carolina Panthers. The team recently inked a contract with Moore, marking the conclusion of all eight of Carolina’s draft selections for 2018. Moore was the 24th overall pick and played for Maryland where he set a single-season school record with 80 receptions in 2017, earning him the Big Ten Receiver of the Year award.
Despite playing with four different quarterbacks while injured, Moore managed to rack up 1,033 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, making him the third wide receiver in school history to achieve a 1,000-yard receiving season, following in the footsteps of Panthers wide receiver Torrey Smith.
Having played three seasons at Maryland, Moore participated in 35 out of 37 games, finishing fifth in career receptions with 146, sixth in receiving yards with 2027 points, and fourth in receiving touchdowns with 17.
Awarded the 2017 Big Ten Receiver of the Year, Moore set a school record with 80 receptions, amassing 1,033 yards and eight scores. His standout sophomore year saw him lead the team in receiving with 41 catches for 637 yards and six touchdowns, while also excelling as the primary kick returner with 15 returns for 334 yards.
Beginning his career as an all-state high school receiver in Pennsylvania, the former four-star recruit swiftly secured a starting role as a true freshman. Moore started the final ten out of 12 games, contributing 25 receptions, 357 yards, and three touchdowns.
Known for his impressive blend of size and speed, Moore has garnered praise from coaching staffs for his remarkable athleticism, boasting a remarkable target rate of 39.5%.
