Philadelphia Eagles turn down Cleveland Browns’ Nick Foles trade offer

The Cleveland Browns brought in the needed addition in their quarterback room this offseason by trading for Tyrod Taylor and drafting Baker Mayfield, but the team had its eyes on a Super Bowl-winning signal caller before getting rebuffed.

As per sources familiar to the talks, the Philadelphia Eagles turned down a trade offer from the Browns where they would have received a 35th overall pick in the 2018 draft in exchange for quarterback Nick Foles.

As per sources, the Eagles had first asked Foles about his view on the potential trade where he had expressed his wish to remain with the Eagles. It was then that both sides worked on Foles’ deal in April and presenting him with a whopping $2 million bonus in the year 2018, which would give him a chance to earn around $14 million in the form of incentives and also a choice to remain with the Eagles in the year 2019.

After starter Carson Wentz tore his ACL against the Los Angeles Rams in a contest, Foles led the Eagles to win their first-ever Super Bowl title. Foles managed to throw for 373 yards and three touchdowns and defeated Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Keeping Koles in the team still will not only help the Eagles to have a backup that can prove to be more than what he is capable of in terms of his performing his best if he is asked for it but will also allow the Eagles to have an insurance policy in case Wentz does not recover fully by the beginning of the 2018 campaign.

Talking about the Cleveland, the team has drafted Georgia RB Nick Chubb with the available 35th pick. The team now plans on turning its focus on combining the capabilities and strengths of Taylor and Mayfield.
