Pittsburgh Steelers convert Ryan Shazier’s 2018 base salary into signing bonus

People say that the Pittsburgh Steelers is a good organization that carries out things in the right manner. This fact has never been true until now as the news about Pittsburgh doing the right thing by former first-round pick and injured linebacker Ryan Shazier on Thursday.

As per ESPN Network’s Field Yates, the Steelers have converted Shazier’s base salary of $8.26 for the year 2018 into a signing bonus, which means that Shazier, who has been ruled out of the 2018 season, will receive the money immediately. This is a strong gesture made by the organization for its player throughout Pittsburgh.

This is a great move made by the Steelers. Often in NFL, one can see the teams that fight to try and get the money back from injured players. The injury disagreements that are related to the contracts are a way in which any business functions, but they can get personal in the league.

Shazier suffered an injury for making a fairly routine tackle against the Bengals in the previous year during a Monday night game. He was immediately taken to the hospital after which a spinal stabilization surgery was carried out. The way in which the Steelers handled the entire injury situation made it quite clear as to how serious the whole scenario was. And as Shazier has been ruled out of the season, football has now become the secondary regarding importance for him.

However, even though Shazier’s football career does not remain to be clear at this point, he has made progress which includes inspiring his fellow teammates by attending the games. Just recently, he had also provided an inspiring moment where he walked across the stage at the 2018 NFL draft in Texas last week to announce the team’s draft choice for the first round pick.
