New York Yankees’ Aaron Hicks injured with rib injury

Aaron Hicks has been placed on the 1-day disabled list by the New York Yankees due to a Grade 1 strain of his intercostal muscle. This move was made by the Yankees on Friday, a day after Hicks got two hits in a season-opening 6-1 victory at Toronto. General manager Brian Cashman said that Hicks played for the whole game. He felt soreness between his third as well as fourth at-bats.

Moreover, outfielder Billy McKinney has taken the roster spot of Hicks and has made his major league debut on Friday night. Hicks was limited to just 88 games in the last season due to the injuries he suffered in his core muscles. He hit a 266 score with 15 home runs and 52 RBIs while he played mainly in the center field.

Manager Aaron Bonne said that Hicks is such an important player and hopefully it is a short-term thing. However, Hicks said that he was disappointed by the move of being sidelined so early in the season due to an injury similar to the ones he suffered in the year 2017. Hicks said that it is frustrating after spending the offseason trying to prevent something like this.

The New York Yankees are already without outfielders Client Frazier who is suffering from a concussion and Jacoby Ellsbury who is suffering from a ribcage injury.

On the other hand, The Philadelphia Phillies have put right handler Pat Neshek on a 10-day disabled due to a right shoulder strain. For the Thursday night’s season-opening game against the Braves, Neshek was not available due to what was said to be a sore right lat.  Notably, in the last season, Neshek, who is an All-Star in the year 2017, posted a 1.59 ERA in 71 combined games with Colorado and Philadelphia.
