A Running back, Danny Woodhead, who arrived in the NFL as an undrafted Rookie in the year 2008 and had been a decade or more in the league, now decides to call it a career. This 33-year-old man posted on Instagram that he is retiring.
“God had crazy plans for a small little kid from North Platte, NE! It has been a wild ride and feels so blessed he allowed me to do what I loved for so long. But, now it is time to say for so long goodbye to the game I love.”
Despite such a successful career, Woodhead was not invited to the scouting combine and he was also not drafted, but it was reported that he signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent. After he spent his Rookie year on the injured reserve, he ultimately put on a show in the preseason of the year 2009 where he rushed for 158 yards in one specific game. That was certainly all he had to do to gain recognition and position in the practice squad and he was ultimately known as the active roster.
After the Jets held him in the year 2010, the Patriots chose him and then he flourished his wings in New England. He has made about 97 carries for 547 yards and another 34 catches for 379 yards in his first year with the Patriots.
He also spent 3 consecutive years with the Patriots before he signed for the chargers where he spent almost 4 years in San Diego and later went on to finish his career’s last year in Baltimore. This 5 foot 8 Woodhead seemed to look undersized, but he never let that get in this way of his career.
