It seems that apart from Giancarlo Stanton, the New York Yankees got one more news players and that newcomer superstar will join the Yankee’s training camp with other players in this spring. The new report says on Wednesday, the Texas Ranger has traded Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to the Yankees and now it is expected that the four-time Pro Bowler will appear at the Yankees’ Grapefruit League camp in Tampa, Florida, which will be held in around February or March.
Sources informed Wilson has no plans to emulate Deion Sanders or Bo Jackson and try to reinvent himself as a two-sport athlete. Ever since he started playing baseball he has maintained his love for the game and he will continue his career in the sports, sources further added.
Wilson wanted to play with the Yankees for a long time and that was his wishes. To accommodate his wishes, Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and his New York counterpart, Brian Cashman, have spent several weeks to achieve that.
In a statement, Cashman said “We’ve admired Russell’s career from afar for quite some time. This is a unique opportunity for us to learn from an extraordinary athlete who has reached the pinnacle of his profession.”
After the trade, the Yankees informed that Wilson will be the Double-A Trenton roster. As a perfect player, Wilson also Twitted on the trade and he shows his gratitude for the Rangers saying “During my two springs in Arizona with the Rangers, I was reminded just how much I love the game of baseball.”
Talking about Wilson, he played professional baseball as a second baseman in the Colorado Rockies for two years and then he got selected in the fourth round of MLB’s 2010 first-year player draft. During the 2010-11, he scores 229 which included 5 home runs in 315 at-bats for Tri-City of the Northwest League and Asheville of the South Atlantic League.
In 2014 and 2015 he appeared at Texas Cactus League for the Rangers which was really surprising.
