Roger Federer has achieved another milestone on Sunday as he won the sixth Australian Open title on Sunday. The match was played between Roger Federer and Croatian Marin Cilic. The scores were 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3. For him, that was like a very emotional moment for him, and there were tears. With this win, he has achieved his 20th Grand Slam singles titles. Even though he is now at age 36, that seems like not a problem for him. Around five years he had not won a major title. But now he has won three of his last five matches.
Expressing his joy, Federer said “I’ve won three Slams in 12 months.I can’t believe it myself.” Now he is the oldest man to win the open. Well, before the match Federer said “I don’t think a 36-year-old should be a favorite of a tournament.”
When Federer received the cup, he looked toward his team and his family in the players’ box and said “The fairy tale continues, for us, for me. After the great year, I had last year, it’s incredible.”
Even though Cilic lost the match, the match brings some positive news for him. Now he will move up to a career-high rank 3 in the World. He managed to rise above Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev, and Dominic Thiem. Talking about his planning for 2018, he said that, he would try to finish in the Top 5 list and he decided to get a Grand Slam. The result of this match will surely help him to work more for his goal. He arrived at the final of the match, and that shows that he is definitely capable of winning a Slam this year.
