Novak Djokovic is currently ranked No.1 in tennis, with Rafael Nadal at No.2 and Roger Federer at No.3. These three players, who are considered modern-day legends of the sport, have been ranked in this order for the seventh time according to the ATP rankings released on Monday. It is the first time in a year that all three of them have held the No. 1 spot at some point.

The rankings have seen seven different changes since 1999, when there were only eight players. Djokovic won both the US Open and Wimbledon in 2018, while Federer claimed the Australian Open title and Nadal excelled at the French Open. Djokovic finishes the year at the top, retaining his position as the dominant force in tennis, reminiscent of his successful years in 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015. Pete Sampras is the only player who held the No. 1 spot for six years.

The 31-year-old Djokovic is the oldest player to finish the season at No. 1 and has achieved the rare feat of climbing back to the top spot from outside the top 20 at the start of the year, and even outside the top 10 at the beginning of last year.

On the WTA side, Simona Halep has finished the season at No. 1 for the second consecutive year, solidifying her position at the top. Djokovic surpassed Nadal in the rankings three weeks ago, while Nadal closed the season at either No. 1 or No. 2 for the tenth time.
