Finally, the New York Giants have got their new head coach. As per the latest report, Pat Shurmur, offensive coordinator of Minnesota Vikings has been appointed as the new head coach of the Giants.
This news came to the forefront on late Monday afternoon after the Vikings announced it. The Giant announced that less than 24 hours after Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Minnesota Viking in the NFC title game. As per the report, Shurmur replaces Ben McAdoo. The Giants was fired McAdoo in early December. The fans and owners were upset with his handling of the benching of Eli Manning, two—time Super Bowl MVP. After McAdoo, the Viking appointed Steve Spagnuolo, the defensive coordinator who worked with the team for the last four games and posted a 1-3-win record.
However, the team will not officially introduce him until fraidy as he can’t come to New Jersey on Tuesday due to a winter storm. But sources said he would be at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, from Tuesday night through Thursday.
co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch said: “He has an outstanding track record in developing young players, and it is clear his players respond to his guidance and direction.”
They further added, the authority interviewed six talented and qualified candidates before selecting pat Shurmur. But they found Shurmur is the right person to lead our team. He was interviewed in 6th January. Dave Gettleman, new general manager, and Kevin Abrams, the assistant general manager had taken his interview.
Gettleman said, “I know he will provide the type of leadership we need to take our team back to where it belongs.”
After this appointment, Shurmur returns to the head coaching ranks for the first time after 2012.
Shurmur posted a 9-23 record in his two seasons with the Browns. He also has been spent three seasons with the Eagles as the offensive coordinator. He started his career as an NFL coach during 1999 in Philadelphia with a 10-year run.
