USA Gymnastics has suspended the coach of the U.S. women’s gymnastics who won the gold-medal-winning in the year 2012 Olympic, John Geddert. The governing body announced the suspension of John Geddert. However, the body did not say anything regarding how many days he has been suspended for.
Geddert is one of the most well-known and decorated women’s gymnastics coaches in Michigan history. He has operated two gyms in Michigan and also Larry Nassar. Since some few days, Nassar has been going through some serious issues after an allegation of sexual harassment. Larry Nassar was Michigan State University and Olympics doctor. In November, the court pleaded him guilty in the sexual abuse case. He has been booked on ten counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with the victim as six years old. More than 150 girls and young women had brought the sexual harassment allegation against Larry Nassar. His sentencing hearing, which began last week, continues this week.
The statement issued by the governing body says “John Geddert has been suspended under the interim measure’s provisions of Section 10.5 of USA Gymnastics’ Bylaws. As the matter is still pending, for now, USA Gymnastics has not given more comments in this case.
The governing body stated that Geddert could request a review of his suspension. But he didn’t respond to this request.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the gymnastics community or where an allegation is sufficiently serious that an Adverse Party’s continued participation could be detrimental to the sport or its reputation, Section 10.5 of USA Gymnastics’ Bylaws.
Jordyn Wieber was a member of the famous Fierce Five who won gold medal-winning team. On Friday, Wieber informed that she was also sexually assaulted by Nassar. She was the first woman who brought the news to the front.
