After the incident happened inside the Los Angeles Clipper’s locker room, NBA has suspended two players involved in this. They are Houston’s Trevor Ariza and Gerald Green. The NBA suspended the duo on Wednesday.
NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Kiki VanDeWeghe stated that this type of act, entering an opponent’s locker room then confronting an opponent is inappropriate and can be dangerous.
He said “We have to make sure that if you’re going in, under those circumstances, you have to know that it is wrong. There’s a very bright line.”
On the other side, NBA has not asked for any penalties from the Clippers as the team was in their locker room during the incident. Huston’s Chris Paul and James Harden also have not penalized for this. In the last season, Chris Paul has played for the Clippers.
After the incident, the NBA’s basketball operations department had interrogated more than 20 persons and also, they investigated clips taken from video cameras. In the end, the NBA gave its final comment on this and stated that Ariza and Green entered the Clippers’ locker room and they started a verbal altercation and hostile with the Clippers players. The NBA also found that the Rocket players, James Harden and Chris Paul then tried to defuse the situation, so the NBA has not taken any disciplinary action against them.
The altercation was not physical, said Vandeweghe. As per the report, Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan was the first to respond to the unwelcome visitors. Then words were exchanged, but Clippers security officials intervened before any more altercation broke out. There’s nothing new about the way that the Rockets’ players took. Paul and Ariza were familiar with that route. Paul has been spent past six seasons with the Clippers and Ariza has been spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.
