Dennis Rodman, was famous for his great looks and bad-boy personality during his Hall of Fame basketball career, both on and off the court. And even after his playing days, he still continues to be in the headline. On Saturday night, Rodman was arrested in California and was charged with driving under the influence.
As per the information from Newport Beach police Lt. Rachel Johnson, Rodman was initially pulled over the sideways for violating the traffic rules in Newport Beach. Johnson said that the 56 year old player failed to go through a breathalyzer test given to him on the scene and so was arrested and booked at about 11pm. He spent the entire night in the prison and was released in the early Sunday morning hours.
Notably, Rodman has a history of legal issues cropping from the use of alcohol. Back in July 2000, after he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, he was required to attend an alcohol program. Later in 2014, he also checked into a rehabilitation facility.
Even though Darren Prince, Rodman’s long time agent could not speak to Rodman as he was flying back to the US from London, he told a media personnel that the former basketball player has struggled openly with alcoholism since the past 17 years.
Prince said, “He’s been dealing with some major personal issues the last month and I know it’s time he checks back into a rehab center to work through them. He further said that he has worked as his agent for over 20 years. “Rodman is an amazing sober guy and deserves to find that happy place in his life with all he did to make his millions of fans happy during his NBA career. This is his chance to rebound in life so we ask for prayers and support from everyone,” he further said.
Notably, Rodman played 14 seasons in the NBA from 1986 via 2000, averaging 7.3 points and 13.1 rebounds in each game. In his career, he won five NBA championships that includes three with Chicago Bulls while playing alongside Michael Jordon.
