Do Raiders violets Ronney rules; NFL investigates

Recently, the Oakland Raiders hired Jon Gruden as the head coach of the team. But after that, the team is now the Raiders team is under the inspection of the NFL. The reason behind this is the NFL is now investigation about whether the Oakland Raiders violated the Rooney Rule during their hiring of Jon Gruden.

The news came to limelight after the Fitz Pollard Alliance; an advocacy group questioned about the proper procedure while selecting Gruden as the head coach. Then the Fitz Pollard Alliance asked the NFL to find out whether the Raiders potentially reached an agreement with Gruden after interviewing minority candidate or not. As per the Rooney Rule, all the team includes under the NFL must have to interview at least one minority candidate for coaching jobs.

Fitz Pollard Alliance counsel Cyrus Mehri and N. Jeremi Duru stated that the counsel formally requested to the NFL to do a thorough investigation in this matter whether the Rooney Rule was violated and if the team found guilty then the council asked the NFL to impose an appropriate punishment

Some sources stated that the Raiders team had followed the Rooney Rule. Before selecting Gruden as the head coach of the team Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie had interviewed two minority candidates. They were Oakland tight ends coach Bobby Johnson and USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin. After this interview, the team had announced Gruden’s hiring Saturday.

Well, on Tuesday, during Gruden’s introductory news conference, Mark Davis Raiders owner stated that he met with Gruden in Philadelphia and from that time he had confidence that Gruden was all-in.  And now the revised timeline of Gruden’s hiring has brought major problem for the team, and that has led to the Fritz Pollard Alliance to asked for an investigation in this matter. Maybe the Raiders could face a fine if they found guilty by the NFL.
