Yannick Ngakoue, Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end has accused Buffalo Bills’ Richie Incognito of making racial slurs after the Bills’ lost in the Sunday’s game with a 10-3 record. This is not the first time that Incognito has been accused of making racial slurs. During a 2013 episode in the past, Incognito was accused of racism and was even suspended for bullying a teammate, Jonathan Martin while with the Dolphins.
Ngakoue turned to his Twitter handle and while referring to Incognito by his jersey number 64 said that the Bills player was “goin[g] to come harder than some weak racist slurs.” He further wrote that he is proud of his African heritage just like the 70 percent other Black players in the league. In the end, he concluded his tweet by writing a hashtag that read “Iaintjonathanmarin!”
Incognito, who has had a bad reputation and is referred to as one of the NFL’s dirtiest players was eventually released by the Dolphins later. He spent the 2014 season out of season. Later in the year 2015, he was picked up by the Bills. At that time he had explained that he learned from the entire situation which involved Martin.
Ngakoue has not yet specified what the alleged racial slurs exactly were till now. But given that Jaguars are set to take on the Steelers Sunday in an AFL divisional round game, he will most likely be asked about the topic in a media session. On Sunday, neither did Incognito nor did the Bills’ comment on the issue. But later, Dion Dawkins, another Buffalo offensive lineman defended his teammate.
On his Twitter handle, Dawkins wrote that everyone has always been trying to put Incognito in the bad limelight. “I was next to my guy the entire game and the entire season and believe me if he were saying some racist stuff I would have been the first to let him know that was out of line.” , he added.
Well, one can now only hope that the matter gets resolved and settled soon enough.
