It was the top of the 9th inning, with two outs, and the Seattle Mariners found themselves in a precarious position, trailing the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2. Representing the tying run at the plate was none other than Dominic Canzone, a former Diamondbacks outfielder recently traded to Seattle. This moment came hours after his call-up from the minors, setting the stage for a compelling comeback narrative.

Canzone seized the moment, belting a remarkable 450-foot home run at 115.9 mph off the bat, propelling the ball to the upper deck at Chase Field and evening the score at 4-4.

Notably, Canzone had just been recalled from Tacoma’s Triple-A earlier that morning. After entering as a pinch-hitter later that night, he made the most of this unexpected opportunity.

This dramatic home run also marked the longest of the season for the Mariners.

However, in a twist of fate, the Diamondbacks managed to respond in the bottom of the 11th inning when first baseman Josh Naylor hit a walk-off grand slam, sealing the game at 8-4.

This thrilling victory brings the Diamondbacks to a 32-34 record, while the Mariners, now at 33-32, maintain their position in the second place in the AL West.

For Canzone, the 27-year-old slugger from Ohio State demonstrated his potential to be a valuable asset in the Mariners’ lineup moving forward.

With impressive stats this season in Triple-A, where he had 13 home runs and 36 RBIs with a .296 batting average and a .566 slugging percentage, Canzone also ranked in the 99th percentile for maximum bat exit velocity at 115.5 mph.
