The Sacramento Kings are reportedly considering trade offers for All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox as they approach the Feb. 6 trade deadline. League sources suggest there are “plenty of suitors” interested in the guard, but according to Shams Charania of ESPN, it is understood that Fox has identified the San Antonio Spurs as his preferred trade destination.
According to multiple sources, if De’Aaron Fox leaves the Kings via trade, his preferred landing spot is the San Antonio Spurs. It could be an interesting couple of days in Sacramento.

San Antonio Emerges as Top Contender for De’Aaron Fox
De’Aaron Fox trade chatter was prevalent earlier in the season when the Kings were facing struggles under coach Mike Brown. During this period, the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs were among the teams showing interest in the point guard.
Houston’s recent surge in form has led the organization to “let this current group see how far it can go.” The Rockets recently extended their winning streak to three games, concluding with a close 114-112 victory over the reigning champion Boston Celtics, bringing their January record to 10-3.
Conversely, the Spurs are still in search of a star to accompany Victor Wembanyama as he rises to prominence as a future icon in the sport. Fox’s statistics show he is averaging 25.2 points, 6.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game with a shooting percentage of 46.8 from the field and 32.4 from three-point range. Although there is room for improvement in his perimeter shooting, he is regarded as one of the premier playmakers in the league and would integrate seamlessly into the Spurs’ system.
Los Angeles Lakers Not Expected to Be Involved in Trade Discussions
One club that is unlikely to be involved in discussions, according to Shams Charania, is the Los Angeles Lakers.
“One thing I can confirm is that with Rich Paul, we know he represents LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Lakers,” Charania stated on NBA Today. “I’ve been informed the Lakers are not among the preferred destinations for De’Aaron Fox.”
Fox, 27, has one year remaining on his contract before entering free agency in the summer of 2026.
