Week 8 of Monday Night Football showcased a matchup between two storied franchises — the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers. With both teams brimming with talent, fans anticipated a thrilling game.

Fans Express Discontent with Joe Buck During Monday Night Football

However, much of the attention during the broadcast shifted away from the players — at least on social media. Instead, fans directed their ire towards ESPN analyst Joe Buck, criticizing his commentary as unbearable. Many did not hold back in sharing their frustrations.

“The best part of Joe Buck doing the Steelers game is he won’t be calling the World Series,” one fan remarked on X, previously known as Twitter.

“Joe Buck is likely the most tedious announcer,” another user added.

Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Speaks Frankly on Quarterback Change

Confusion swept through the fanbase when Russell Wilson was appointed as the Steelers’ starting quarterback in Week 7. This was not due to questions about Wilson’s abilities, but rather because Justin Fields had already been effective in keeping the team competitive during Wilson’s injury. Fields led the Steelers to a 4-2 record, achieving a 3-0 start while Wilson was sidelined.

When asked about the rationale behind electing Wilson as the starter after he was cleared to play, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin explained that it was important to assess both quarterbacks.

“Look, if it doesn’t pan out, I’ll take the heat, I’ll bear the blame, no issue. The reason I made this decision is that I wanted to evaluate both quarterbacks during the preseason before committing to a long-term choice,” Tomlin stated.

“I want to understand what I have from [Wilson], explore all avenues, and then decide as the season progresses.”

Wilson has already started strong in his first year with the Steelers, having secured a victory over the Jets in his debut. A Super Bowl champion with the Seattle Seahawks, the seasoned quarterback remains eager to achieve more success.

“I came here for one purpose: to win a Super Bowl… I believe we have that shot,” Wilson commented. “But we have to put in the effort. There’s still a lot of work ahead.”
