Charles Woodson embodies the spirit of Michigan entirely, which is why it’s fitting that his brand, Woodson Whiskey, is the first-ever spirit sponsor for the University. The 1997 Heisman Trophy winner shared that this partnership enhances his pride as a graduate.

In a press release, Woodson referred to his college motto, “Those who stay will be champions.” He added that he didn’t know what lay ahead after graduation until this moment, declaring, “Those who come back will be champions once again.”

Woodson has lived by this principle while building and running Woodson Whiskey, which he established in 2021. Besides sponsoring his alma mater, the brand also backs the NFL team he thrived with, the Las Vegas Raiders. Alongside his whiskey venture, Woodson has also launched a wine brand.

When he debuted his whiskey, Michigan was the first state to get distribution. He shared with Grand Rapids Magazine that the state has “always supported me in whatever I have done,” making it a natural choice for the launch.

“The fans know that I don’t just put my name on anything, so I’m excited to return to Michigan and reveal my latest creation,” he told the publication.

Fans will be able to purchase the spirit at The Big House this weekend when the No. 10 ranked team takes on No. 3 Texas. Woodson is expected to be there, as indicated in Woodson Whiskey’s press release.

The Woodson Whiskey collection aligns with his legacy. It features a limited edition 65th Anniversary Raiders Commemorative Bottle with his image, a Team 144 Michigan bottle, and a Blue and Maize signature series. Additionally, there are Green and Gold series (for the Green Bay Packers) and White & Silver series (for the Las Vegas Raiders), honoring his NFL teams.

Woodson is the only defensive player to have ever won the Heisman Trophy. He was selected No. 4 overall in the 1998 Draft and went on to be a nine-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro First Team player in the NFL. He has been inducted into both the college and professional football Hall of Fame.
