If Nate Diaz was looking for an excuse following his loss to Jake Paul, he may have been handed one by none other than Drake.
The Drake curse is no secret, and while the Canadian-born rapper has won a few of his recent bets, he was back in the losing column following Saturday night’s main event.
According to Drake himself, he placed a $250,000 wager on Diaz because, as he puts it, “Jake is a dog but I can never bet against a Diaz brother, that’s just how I was raised.”
Had Diaz won the fight, it would have netted Drake a cool $1-million. Unfortunately, it was Paul who won the fight via unanimous decision, sucking $250,000 from Drake’s betting account.
Drake wasn’t the only one wagering large sums of money on Saturday’s boxing match. According to reports, the fight was the second-most heavily bet boxing match in the history of DraftKings Sportsbook, finishing behind only the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia fight from back in April.
And if that wasn’t enough, the fight was also said to have drawn more than twice as many bets as all six fights combined from UFC 291.
Love him or hate him, Jake Paul continues to bring boxing back to life.
