Phil Mickelson isn’t as popular as he used to be.

While the golfing icon remains a fan favorite and one of the most well-respected pros around, his decision to leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf turned a good few supporters against him.

With the sporting entities agreeing to a merger recently, it’s come to light that Phil may have rubbed a fellow pro the wrong way by possibly making a play at his wife.

Mickelson is known to have had issues with Pat Perez and, according to author Alan Shipnuck, the relationship between the two golfers became turbulent after Phil met with Perez and his wife for dinner in 2015 and showed the latter a photo of himself she deemed offensive.

It’s alleged that Phil took the opportunity to share the image when Pat stepped away to use the restroom.

Shipnuck wrote the above in his book, “Phil: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorized!) Biography of Golf’s Most Colorful Superstar,” which was published in 2022.

An agent who has represented both Mickelson and Perez has denied this, while Perez says in the book that the issue he had with Mickelson was “handled.”

The 47-year-old, who also made the switch to LIV, did not go into details, opting not to reveal the cause of the discord between himself and Phil.
