Former NBA athlete Donte Greene, aged 34, was taken into custody for trying to rob a gas station attendant in Indiana.
Accusations of attempted robbery arose when the Goshen Police Department reported that Greene aggressively approached a clerk at a Phillips 66 gas station and demanded all the money.
In a recent incident, law enforcement responded to a report of a drunk driver in the vicinity followed by another report of an individual attempting to rob a gas station attendant. The second call originated from a Taco Bell adjacent to the same Phillips 66 gas station where Greene had tried to commit the robbery.
Police swiftly arrived at the scene, apprehended Greene, and detained him in Elkhart County jail.
The 6’11” forward is notably known for his time playing under renowned coach Jim Boeheim during his freshman year at Syracuse University in the 2007-08 season. He excelled in all 35 games, leading Syracuse in scoring with 17.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game before delving into the NBA draft.
Initially selected 28th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008, Greene was later traded to the Houston Rockets. He also had stints with the Boston Celtics and the Sacramento Kings.
Throughout his NBA career spanning 253 games, Greene maintained an average of 6.1 points per game before transitioning to play overseas.
Over the course of his career, he amassed earnings amounting to $5,153,283.
