Ron Rivera was clearly not interested in addressing these questions immediately after his team’s recent victory on Thursday.

Dealing with a shoulder injury, Carson Wentz’s performance in the Commanders’ 12-7 win over the Bears on Thursday night was less than stellar. Completing 12 of 22 passes for 99 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, he also rushed twice for two yards. Despite his underwhelming game, Wentz did what was necessary to secure the win for his team.

After the match, head coach Ron Rivera was visibly displeased with reports suggesting that he didn’t choose Carson Wentz to be the team’s quarterback.

In response, he stated, “I’m the one who thoroughly reviewed the data, delved into the analytics, and analyzed the game tapes.”

Earlier in the week, Rivera was questioned about the Commanders’ 1-4 record in his third season, while the other teams in the division boasted at least a 4-1 record. Rivera attributed this discrepancy to the quarterback situation.

Rivera subsequently issued an apology to quarterback Carson Wentz.

During the offseason, the Commanders made a trade to acquire Wentz.
