For the fans attending the game at Globe Life Field, they witnessed a moment of baseball history as Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run of the season.
However, one fan’s attempt to catch the ball ended in disappointment as it landed in someone else’s glove.
Judge made the record-breaking hit in the first inning of the second game of a doubleheader against the Rangers, setting a new American League single-season home run record and moving into seventh place in MLB history.
A video captured a fan leaping over a railing in a bid to catch the ball, only to realize that it was out of reach.
According to Evan Grant, a Rangers insider for the Dallas Morning News, the fan was unharmed but was asked to leave the stadium for his actions.
Security at Globe Life Field escorted the fortunate fan who caught the ball out of his seat, holding the historic ball. When asked about his plans for the ball by reporters, he responded, “I haven’t thought about it yet.”
