Russell Westbrook’s stint with the Los Angeles Lakers has been somewhat lackluster and seems likely to end after just one season.
As reported by WSJ, the Lakers’ guard has listed his Los Angeles home for $29.995 million, a property he purchased for $19.75 million back in 2018.
The house, spanning approximately 13,500 square feet, boasts six bedrooms, a bar, wine room, gym, and a movie theater.
Speculation is rife that Westbrook might be traded or bought out, given the $47 million that remains on his contract. However, ESPN’s Zach Lowe, in conversation with reporter Ramona Shelburne, disclosed that Westbrook is not inclined towards a buyout.
Shelburne stated, “Russell Westbrook is not a buyout guy. You have to agree to a buyout, and that’s not how he is wired. This is a guy who is very proud, and when you accept a buyout at least once in your career… you’re seen differently throughout the rest of your career. Once a buyout guy, always a buyout guy.”
Westbrook stands to earn $47.1 million in the upcoming season, making it challenging for any team to absorb his hefty salary. Consequently, the Lakers face difficulties in offloading Westbrook due to his playing style not meshing well with LeBron James and his lack of efficiency from long-range.
It appears that Los Angeles might need to find a way to incorporate Westbrook better within the team in the future.
