Last December, Julianna Peña caused a major upset in the MMA world by defeating Amanda Nunes to claim the UFC women’s bantamweight title at UFC 269.
Peña and Nunes faced off for the second time in the headline event of UFC 277 at the American Airlines Center, with the UFC women’s bantamweight championship at stake. Nunes revealed that she had entered their first encounter with knee injuries and battling COVID-19. After recuperating and setting up her new private gym, Lioness Studio, Nunes expressed her confidence in being a transformed fighter for their rematch.
This time, Nunes sought vengeance and successfully knocked Peña down several times in the second round, leading to a triumphant victory after a grueling five-round battle.
Nunes reclaimed her title.
