Scottsdale police have apprehended a member of the Arizona State football squad on DUI charges following a tragic accident involving a pedestrian.
Stanley Lambert has been taken into custody on two DUI charges, as confirmed by the Scottsdale Police Department in an official statement. Lambert was reportedly implicated in a collision that resulted in the passing of 23-year-old Norah Bruther.
“The pedestrian, Norah Bruther, aged 23, was crossing Camelback Road near Minnezona Avenue in Old Town Scottsdale when the incident occurred at approximately 1:38 a.m.
Further charges could be forthcoming, and Lambert has been released as the investigation progresses, awaiting the results of his blood alcohol tests,” authorities stated.
Arizona State acknowledged the incident in an official statement.
“We are aware of the heartbreaking event over the weekend involving one of our student-athletes,” the statement expressed. “Our hearts go out to the affected families and friends. We are in the process of gathering details and do not have any further comments at this time.”
The redshirt senior serves as a defensive lineman for the Sun Devils, having taken part in 14 games as a reserve, where he made four tackles and two sacks.
As a backup in his fourth-year sophomore season, Lambert was credited with three tackles, two of which were sacks, in six games played.
