In the final match of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying on Wednesday night, the United States had a crucial task that would determine their journey to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this winter. They needed to avoid losing by six goals or more in Costa Rica, a scenario that seemed highly unlikely. Despite a somewhat lackluster performance, the Americans managed to meet the requirement by losing 2-0 to Costa Rica, ensuring their place in the World Cup after missing out in 2018.

Costa Rica, with goals from Juan Vargas and Anthony Contreras, also earned a spot in Qatar, but they will compete against New Zealand in a final qualifier to determine which team will advance to the main tournament. On the other hand, Mexico secured a place in the World Cup draw by defeating El Salvador 2-0 at home, courtesy of goals from Uniel Antuna and Raul Jimenez in the first half.

Canada topped the North American group and had already secured their place before the last match on Wednesday. The World Cup group draw is scheduled for Friday, creating excitement among teams as they await their group assignments and the path they must follow to achieve victory.
