The teams heading to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022 have learned their fate after the draw that occurred on Friday. The United States will compete in Group B against England, Iran, and either Wales, Scotland, or Ukraine. While the American team faces a challenging group, it is manageable. Mexico, on the other hand, will battle Lionel Messi’s Argentina, Poland, and Saudi Arabia in what appears to be a tough lineup. Despite this, Mexico is known for navigating the group stage well and should approach this challenge with confidence.
The much-feared ‘Group of Death’ does not seem as menacing this year. While some groups may be tougher than others, the intensity of previous editions is lacking. The tournament will feature eight groups, each consisting of four teams, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout phase. Here are the group pairings:
Group A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands
Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales or Scotland/Ukraine
Group C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
Group D: France, Peru or Australia/UAE, Denmark, Tunisia
Group E: Spain, Costa Rica or New Zealand, Germany, Japan
Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
Group G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
Group H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea
