Caleb Williams, who previously played as a quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners, has now narrowed down his choices for transferring to just two schools.
According to Dean Blevins, an insider from OKC-KWTV Sports, Williams has narrowed down his options to either the LSU Tigers or the USC Trojans for the upcoming 2022 college football season.
Following Williams’ decision to transfer, USC emerged as a top contender to recruit him, especially after former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley joined the Trojans and offered Williams a starting position.
On the other hand, newly-appointed LSU head coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers are engaged in a competitive competition to secure Williams, who is expected to be a future Heisman frontrunner.
Williams took on the starting quarterback role after Spencer Rattler, the former Oklahoma quarterback, decided to continue his career at South Carolina.
During his freshman year, Williams showcased his talent by completing 64.5% of his passes for 1,912 yards, throwing 21 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Additionally, he rushed for 442 yards and scored six touchdowns on the ground.
Regardless of his final decision, Williams is anticipated to be a prominent candidate on the preseason Heisman watchlist due to his remarkable performance as a freshman.
