John Stockton, known for his NBA career and Gonzaga legacy, has been suspended by Gonzaga for not adhering to the mask mandate during home games this season.
Despite his iconic status as the most prominent player in Gonzaga basketball history, Stockton will not be allowed to attend games as the school has suspended his season tickets due to his refusal to wear a mask as required.
Stockton explained, “I was asked to wear a mask to the games, and as a public figure, I stood out in the crowd, which led to complaints. Consequently, the school either wanted me to comply with the mask mandate or suspend my tickets.”
This decision has strained Stockton’s relationship with Gonzaga as he expressed, “I feel a strong connection with the school. I have been part of this campus since I was a child and have a long history here. While this situation has caused some conflict, I believe we will work through it.”
Gonzaga, currently holding a 15-2 record, is ranked as the No. 1 team in the country.
