This week, the sports and gaming communities mourned the loss of the legendary coach, sportscaster, and namesake of the Madden franchise, John Madden.
Anthony Edwards felt compelled to showcase his Madden skills after hearing about John Madden’s passing. The young player for the Minnesota Timberwolves is an avid Madden gamer and considers himself the best Madden player in the NBA. In honor of Madden, Edwards decided to unleash a dominating performance in the game.
Expressing his feelings, Edwards stated, “It was shocking to hear that news while playing Madden. I needed to win by a significant margin, around 30 to 40 points, to pay my respects.”
Edwards, affirming his prowess, claimed to be the top basketball-Madden player globally. When asked about potential teammates in a Madden 3-on-3 match, he pointed towards YouTubers BlackReign4 and Throne, confident in their victory.
At just 20 years old, Edwards was not present for the majority of Madden’s broadcasting career. However, the impact of the 85-year-old Madden transcends generations through the popular gaming series.
John Madden was featured on the cover of Madden 07’s Hall of Fame Edition, and a new Special Edition in his honor would be a fitting tribute.
As the gaming community anticipates EA Sports’ announcement for Madden 23 this June, revealing John Madden NFL 23 would be a significant moment.
