ESPN’s Mina Kimes recently shared an email she received from a person named “Charles Brown” with the subject “STOP!” In the email, Brown criticized Kimes for not knowing anything about “male sports” and implied that her position at ESPN was due to affirmative action, calling her a joke that viewers endured.
Kimes humorously responded to the email with a “Sir this is a Wendy’s” joke and later explained her decision to share it on Twitter, highlighting the ongoing issue of facing such criticism as a woman in sports media.
Fellow ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday defended Kimes, emphasizing her talent and contribution to the NFL team through her analytical skills. It is worth noting that Kimes is a summa cum laude graduate from Yale and an award-winning journalist prior to joining ESPN.
