The Brooklyn Nets are determined to keep their commitment for a Christmas game against the Los Angeles Lakers, even though they have been hit hard by Covid-19 recently.

It is confirmed that Kevin Durant will not be part of the Nets team traveling to LA. Nets coach Steve Nash stated on Thursday that the team has followed the NBA health and safety protocols, but players like Durant who are still in the protocols are unlikely to be cleared in time for the game. This absence will put the Nets at a significant disadvantage as Durant is currently the top scorer in the NBA.

The Nets had to postpone their last three games due to a large number of players being affected by the coronavirus, with 10 players testing positive, the highest number in the league. Nash mentioned, “We haven’t had much practice time, but we are making adjustments as necessary based on the changing rules and guidelines.”

Teams are required to have a minimum of eight players available to play. Nash confirmed that the Nets will have enough players to travel to LA for the game on Saturday. As of Thursday, 96 NBA players from 23 different teams were sidelined due to Covid-related issues, mostly stemming from positive test results.
