In a Triad Combat match, Frank Mir faced former IBF heavyweight champion Kubrat Pulev and found himself in a mismatched battle that almost cost him his life.

The event featured boxers fighting MMA specialists in a unique triangular ring with boxing regulations but MMA gloves. Mir struggled from the beginning, with Pulev quickly showcasing his superiority. Mir was on the brink of collapse within the first round. Despite the obvious danger Mir was in, referee Dan Miragliotta seemed oblivious, allowing Mir to sustain further damage before eventually intervening to stop the contest.

Miragliotta missed multiple opportunities to end the fight earlier and even appeared to push Mir back into the corner to endure more punishment.

Following Mir’s brutal knockout, outraged fans took to Twitter to express their discontent with Miragliotta, Triad Combat, and Triller for letting such a mismatched and perilous fight happen in the first place.

Many criticized the matchmakers for arranging a bout between Mir, a largely outmatched fighter, and Pulev, a seasoned professional with an impressive record. The stoppage of the fight raised concerns about the credibility of MMA fighters as opponents for boxers and highlighted the importance of considering the fighters’ backgrounds, training, and level of competition when making matchups.

Twitter users also expressed their shock at the one-sided nature of the contest and criticized the fighting commission for allowing such a lopsided fight to take place. The incident sparked discussions surrounding fighter safety and the responsibility of referees to protect fighters from unnecessary harm, prompting calls for Mir to reconsider continuing his fighting career.#TriadCombat
