In response to any threats against Nikola Jokic, his brothers will be present at the upcoming Nuggets-Heat game in Miami.
The NBA recently announced a one-game suspension without pay for reigning MVP Nikola Jokic due to his forceful shove of Miami Heat forward Markieff Morris during a game on Monday night. Jokic felt provoked by a preceding cheap shot from Morris.
Markieff Morris received a $50,000 fine but no suspension. Additionally, Jimmy Butler was fined $30,000 for his involvement in attempting to escalate the altercation and not cooperating with a mandatory NBA Security interview.
Social media saw reactions from the brothers of both players following the incident involving NBA MVP Nikola Jokic’s retaliatory push.
Marcus Morris tweeted on Monday night, “Waited till bro turned his back smh. NOTED,” along with a pen emoji.
In response, Jokic’s brothers, Strahinja and Nemanja, created a Twitter account under “@JokicBrothers” to address Marcus Morris.
The account posted, “You should leave this the way it is instead of publicly threatening our brother! Your brother made a dirty play first. If you want to make a step further be sure we will be waiting for you!! Jokic Brothers.”
Both sets of siblings are expected to attend the upcoming game between the two teams later this month.
Jokic concluded the game with an impressive triple-double of 25 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Reflecting on the incident, Jokic stated to reporters, “It’s a stupid play. I feel bad. I am not supposed to react that way…I thought it was going to be a take foul…I think it was a dirty play. And I just needed to protect myself. I felt bad, I am not supposed to react that way but I need to protect myself.”
Jokic later expressed, “I don’t know who showed me the clip, and actually his head snapped back [after the shove], so I feel really bad…It’s a bad move.”
