In the face of potential missed opportunities with the Brooklyn Nets and financial repercussions, Kyrie Irving remains resolute in his decision not to get vaccinated against Covid-19, stating, “I am doing what’s best for me.”

During an Instagram Live session, Irving elaborated on his stance, acknowledging potential backlash and scrutiny but emphasizing his commitment to his principles. He affirmed his dedication to basketball, asserting that he won’t retire due to the vaccine mandate.

Due to New York City regulations barring unvaccinated athletes from public sports facilities, Irving will be absent from Nets’ home games. Despite continued pay for away games, he faces the possibility of losing a significant portion of his salary, roughly $35 million. Irving acknowledged the financial impact, noting that personal well-being takes precedence over monetary considerations.

While Irving respects those who choose to be vaccinated, he remains focused on his own health decisions and appreciates the guidance of medical professionals without criticizing others’ choices.
