Frank Clark, a defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs, was arrested in Los Angeles after police found a submachine gun in his car.
According to a statement from Tony Im, a public information officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, Clark was pulled over around 9:20 pm on Sunday for a vehicle violation. The arrest took place south of downtown LA when officers noticed a bag in the car with the visible end of an Uzi submachine gun protruding from it.
Clark spent the night in the Los Angeles County jail on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He posted a $35,000 bond and was released on Monday afternoon. His attorney, Alex Spiro, stated that the gun belonged to Clark’s bodyguard.
Clark, who hails from LA, has a history of legal issues. In 2014, he was arrested on domestic violence charges after an incident at an Ohio hotel. He later pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct, leading to his dismissal from the University of Michigan football team.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy stated that this recent incident involving Clark would be examined in accordance with the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
