Phil Mickelson is feeling positive as the upcoming US Open will take place at Torrey Pines in San Diego, his hometown. This presents a special chance for him to complete his career grand slam on a course he knows well.

Mickelson had to receive a special invitation to compete in the tournament since he is not currently ranked among the top 100 golfers globally. It was seen as a rare opportunity for him to join the exclusive group of Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods who have won all four major golf championships throughout their careers.

Despite the challenges, the odds seem to be in Mickelson’s favor. He has previously claimed victory at Torrey Pines three times and recently made history in May by becoming the oldest major winner ever at the US PGA Championship. As he turns 51 a day before the US Open commences, Mickelson remains focused on giving his best performance.

“Success in golf requires some luck and the right circumstances aligning,” Mickelson commented. “I feel confident in my game and am eager to showcase my best abilities.”

Mickelson’s last triumph at Torrey Pines was in 2001 during the Buick Invitational, just before the south course underwent significant renovations.
