UFC Hall of Famer and former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz faced scrutiny recently over claims of “poisoning” individuals while distributing food packages to residents of Huntington Beach, California.
Tito Ortiz, known as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy,” entered a new chapter in his life after being elected to Huntington Beach’s city council in November. During a food giveaway event at the Oak View Community Center parking lot, Ortiz encountered criticism for not wearing a mask and engaged in a heated verbal altercation with protestors, which was captured on video.
Gina Clayton-Tarvin, a member of the Ocean View Board of Trustees, expressed her concerns in an interview with CBS Los Angeles, stating, “Having direct contact with young children like [Ortiz] did today, leaning into strollers, and approaching car windows without a mask is unacceptable. This poses a public health risk.”
In response to the allegations, Ortiz took to his official social media account and stated, “People are questioning what’s happening, and there’s an individual with a megaphone spreading misinformation in Spanish, claiming that I am serving tainted food. He is telling people not to accept food from me, insinuating that it’s toxic. It is truly disgraceful as my supporters know the extent of my charitable efforts during the holiday season.”
The 45-year-old veteran of professional mixed martial arts boasts a career record of 21 wins and 12 losses.
