Yagmur Asik is currently facing allegations of attempting to orchestrate a plan to have her husband killed by a hitman for $1.2 million, as stated in reports.
The 27-year-old, who got married to former Turkey international Emre Asik in 2012, found her marriage in jeopardy after being accused of having an affair, leading her husband to initiate divorce proceedings.
According to a report from the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, Yagmur allegedly made the decision to have her husband killed after these events unfolded.
As detailed by a report on NYPost, Yagmur’s lover Erdi Sungur claimed that she first approached him to carry out the murder but he declined. Sungur alleged, “I had an affair with Yagmur. She was only thinking of inheriting the fortune after Emre Asik’s death. She asked me to kill him, but I refused.”
Sungur further reported, “Once she brought me a piece of meat. She wanted me to shoot the meat. I did attempt to shoot, but I squinted. ‘You can’t do it,’ she yelled angrily.”
After Sungur’s refusal, he claimed that Yagmur then engaged a professional assassin. The documents also suggest that Yagmur provided the assassin with a weapon and even assisted in finding ways to dispose of the body. However, the hitman had a change of heart and disclosed the entire plan to her husband, leading to its failure.
Yagmur and Sungur are currently in custody awaiting trial on charges of attempted murder.
