Alex Morgan is set to join the English soccer team Tottenham Hotspur on a temporary deal, pending approval of her visa. The Orlando Pride has arranged for Morgan to play with Spurs until the end of this year.

Morgan’s move aims to boost her playing time as she prepares for potential selection to the US women’s soccer team for the Tokyo Olympics next year. The former World Cup silver ball awardee welcomed her daughter, Charlie, on May 7 and made a comeback to professional soccer in August. Unfortunately, her return was cut short due to an injury suffered in a game.

Orlando is slated to participate in the NWSL Fall Series, offering only four competitive matches during the tournament.

The 31-year-old forward has previous experience playing in Europe, having secured a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics with a crucial goal in the semi-finals against Canada. In 2017, Morgan spent a year at Lyon in France, where she clinched the French Cup and a Champions League title.

Carli Lloyd, Morgan’s co-captain in the US national team, also ventured into English soccer by signing with Manchester City around the same period when Morgan moved to France.
