Justin Fields is advocating for the return of football.
On Sunday, Fields launched a petition on MoveOn.org to urge the decision-makers in the Big Ten to reinstate college football.
In his petition, he stated:
As football players from the Big Ten, along with the fans and supporters of college football, we are asking the Big Ten Conference to promptly bring back the 2020 football season. We request that Big Ten players and teams be given the option to decide whether they want to play this fall season or opt out. Players and teams who choose not to participate should be able to do so without facing penalties or consequences.
Why is this necessary?
We are eager to play. We are confident that safety measures have been put in place to address concerns about Covid 19 exposure. We believe we should have the autonomy to prioritize our health and future. Let our hard work and dedication not go to waste. #LetUsPlay!
The petition is garnering more signatures with each passing moment.
Last season, Fields threw for 3,273 yards, 41 touchdowns, and three interceptions, scoring 10 rushing touchdowns. He led the Buckeyes to the College Football Playoff but was defeated in the semifinals.
Ohio State’s Fields is considered one of the premier QB prospects in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft if he decides to enter.
