While the much-anticipated article from The Washington Post about the Washington (former) Redskins is awaited, rumors circulating on social media are spreading like wildfire.
One of the more sensational rumors claims that team owner Dan Snyder has been allegedly bribing referees, with some reports suggesting payments of up to $2 million.
This speculation grew so rampant that ESPN’s Adam Schefter contacted his source to address the issue and obtain a response.
As expected, the source vehemently denied the allegations.
Given Washington’s lackluster performance, with just five postseason qualifications since Dan Snyder’s ownership began in 1999, it seems improbable that such misconduct would persist alongside the team’s poor performance.
